Up to 100,000 SEK for Your Helsingborg Idea
Klimatfonden and Visionsfonden are both open for applications right now. One backs your climate ideas, the other your boldest ones.
Do you have a project idea that could take Helsingborg one step closer to its climate goals, or one step into the future? The City of Helsingborg is currently accepting applications to two funds, each offering up to 100,000 SEK to help you turn an idea into reality. The deadlines are only days apart, so it's a good moment to dust off that notebook.
Klimatfonden: for a climate-neutral Helsingborg
Helsingborg aims to be climate-neutral by 2030. That means emissions within the city's borders should be 85 percent lower than in 1990, with the remaining 15 percent offset through technical or biological carbon sinks. Klimatfonden (the Climate Fund) exists to help get there, with 1 million SEK available in this round.
Open: 1 September to 4 October 2026
Who can apply: Private individuals over 18 and non-profit associations. Companies and city employees cannot apply to the fund.
How much: Up to 100,000 SEK per project
Projects are assessed on whether they:
reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Helsingborg, or emissions from Helsingborgers' consumption
act as a carbon sink that binds carbon dioxide
contribute to environmental sustainability
strengthen civil society's engagement in the work toward climate neutrality
contribute to learning, innovation or new collaborations in the city's transition
Meeting several criteria improves your chances if similar projects compete.
Your project also needs a clear start and end date, a budget that spells out expected costs, and a benefit for Helsingborg's residents. It must start within six months of the decision and run for a maximum of 12 months, with results reported three months after it ends. Environmental administration staff will follow up on the results.
Last spring's funded projects show how wide the field is: a toy library where families borrow instead of buy, guided seaweed safaris, a reuse day for musical instruments, a greener innebandy tournament, and bike parking and cycling challenges for a football club.

Visionsfonden: for ideas nobody has tried here yet
Visionsfonden (the Vision Fund) is for the bold stuff. It backs projects that take Helsingborg closer to its Vision 2035, and the key question is: has this been done in Helsingborg before? If not, you may be onto something.
Open: 9 September to 6 October 2026
Who can apply: Anyone 18 or older, including private individuals, companies and associations. You don't have to be registered as a resident of Helsingborg, but the project must take place in Helsingborg or benefit Helsingborgers.
How much: Up to 100,000 SEK
Projects are judged on their potential benefit to society and how new they are to Helsingborg. Each round, the city also picks two big challenges to focus on. This autumn they are involuntary loneliness and social preparedness. All ideas are welcome, but projects addressing these two themes may be prioritized. Those that pass the first step are invited to a pitch event.

Which fund fits your idea?
If your project is about cutting emissions, protecting nature or getting Helsingborgers involved in climate action, start with Klimatfonden. If your idea is a first for the city, especially one tackling loneliness or social preparedness, look at Visionsfonden. Businesses can only apply to Visionsfonden.
